Operational risk produces an enormous amount of noise: vendor webinars, breathless AI announcements, regulatory summaries written by people who have never carried the obligation. The signal, the handful of developments that should actually change what a risk leader does next quarter, is rare, and it rarely announces itself.
The OpRisk Signal is my filter. Each issue has two parts:
The signal. A curated read of what mattered since the last issue: regulatory movement (DORA implementation, OSFI E-21 milestones, UK regime supervision, U.S. agency signals), consequential loss events and enforcement actions, and the genuine advances in AI for risk work, each with a short note on why it matters and what I would do about it. No filler. If a fortnight was quiet, I say so.
One essay. A single practitioner piece per issue, in the register of this site: scenario analysis, resilience testing, tooling, the craft of running a second line that regulators trust. The essays are written from operating experience, not from coverage.
Who it’s for. Heads of operational risk and their teams, CROs, resilience leads, supervisors and examiners who want the practitioner view, and the builders creating tools for this discipline. If you have ever had to defend a scenario number or an impact tolerance, this is written for you.
